Goals for this year

I began my start of my last year the week that my school started, which was August 11th. Being there the first week made me that much more excited for this year as a pre student teacher and student teacher. My year will be a bit different than others considering my classroom I am in is piloting iPads. You will get to experience this new journey with me and hopefully technology is on our side! We have not yet started with the iPads due to not receiving covers, but I cannot wait to get started with them and neither can my students. This will be an exciting year!

Goals for this year

1.     Learn Technology. You would think this may be a silly goal, but it is not. My cooperating teacher and I are in this together and we are figuring things out as we go. I want to be able to do things without the help of my CT with the technology. This means being proficient with the iPads and the Smart Board. We are dealing a lot with Edmodo this year as well. I want to be prepared and feel like I know the technology for when classrooms switch over. This is a great learning experience and I’m lucky to be apart of it.

2.     Teacher Voice. This has been a goal for me from day one and I have been working on it for the past year. I am working on being loud enough for my students to be able to hear me and come back to me when I need them to. I have found that part of my problem last year with control was myself not speaking loud enough. I go into teaching with this in the back of my mind and work on it.

3.     Creativity. This is a goal of mine because I want to be able to come up with awesome lesson plans that will not bore the students. With dealing with iPads, I will have to keep them engaged in the lesson so they do not start playing around. This will be an interesting mix for myself and I hope the iPads will help me explore new things with lessons.

4.     Details. This goal of mine is so I can learn to put more detail into things. I know I need to focus on more details in my lesson plans and in instructions to students. I know I am on the right track for this, just needs some polishing. Details will also help with explaining things to parents and supervisors.
